Builders 2 is a fantastic – Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a fantastic combination of role-playing game and sandbox construction game. A lighthearted romp, with plenty of opportunities for creative building and a surprisingly good story

  2. Deona (verified owner) –

Dragon Quest – I bought this game as a gift, but I did play the demo and enjoyed it as well. I have always liked the Dragon Quest series.

  3. Andy (verified owner) –

Dragon quest rules! – Love this game. Hours of fun for anyone that tries it out.

100% better than the first one – I loved the first Dragon quest builders so I made sure to purchase this one as well. It is SO much better than the first one. I don’t want to spoil the game but I will say the story is great. The is an open world theme. It’s not like the Chapters in the first game – it’s much different (in a good way). You have a follower that is really helpful. He fights monsters and gather the same type of material you gather. The worlds are MUCH bigger than the first game, and your building area is extremely big compared to the first. The also updated the visual controls and really polished this one out. If you liked the first game at all you will absolutely love this one. There are many new things possible in this game that were not available in the first. It’s really well done and I can be picky. The only negative I have to say is some of script can be really cringe at times. One character is always saying things like lit, fam, totes, and hype. And some of the dialogue is written in a lisp – which can be hard to smoothly read and takes away from flow of the story as I’m trying to read the words the way they are spelled with that included lisp. And some others are written in a “hillbilly” sort of way? I’m not really sure how to describe it other than they spell out the words the way a really country back woods person would say and it does get annoying at times. I haven’t beat it yet but I feel like I’ve gotten about halfway maybe. Even with the above complaints I’m still giving it 5 stars because I love the dynamics of the game and how the story plays out and the different things I’m allowed to do this go around.

addictive – great rpg. some cons are the loading and frame rate but the portability is always a plus for the switch.

  6. ap2020 (verified owner) –

good game – I love this game. I loved the first one, but I love this one even more. If you’re wanting to build replicas of 18th century China, or NYC, etc then Minecraft will obviously be a better tool.

  7. Kairu (verified owner) –

A True Sequel That Improves on the Original DQB – A fantastic follow-up to the original Dragon Quest Builders that improves on the original in almost every way. One of the big complaints with the first game was that you had to start building from scratch after you completed each chapter. DQB2 addresses this by having a main hub world where you are free to build between main story chapters and whose progression is tied into the game. Everything else remains just as good, if not better than the original.

The only real complaint I have is the performance on the Switch is only so-so compared to other platforms. In all the official content from the main game it performs mostly OK and typically hits 30 FPS, with the occasional dip. However, if you are looking to explore user made worlds with very complex architecture be prepared for some really bad frame-rates.

Great game to take on the go. Best Buy had it on sale so I picked it up. Would recommend

  9. Steebs (verified owner) –

Minecraft meets dragon quest. A lot of fun with a cute story.

  10. Zyzoxing (verified owner) –

Great Sequel – Got for a great deal. Loved the first game too. Sequels done right.

  11. Crunchytoast (verified owner) –

Digital games are nice to have – I got it for $30. Fantastic steal. Hundreds of hours. It gets better when the world opens up

  12. tpdaly81 (verified owner) –

Fun addition to the Dragon Warrior Series – Fun game. Im a big fan of the dragon warrior series, going all the way back to the NES, and this is a good addition to that library. Functionality is similar to the original Dragon Quest Builders.

  13. Tiggs (verified owner) –

The builders dream – One of my favorite games on the Switch. If you like a fun story coupled with building your own world, this is the game for you. The possibilities are endless. Literally build anything you can imagine.

  14. Mikester (verified owner) –

A really fun surprise for me. – I love these kinds of games. DQB2 is just as fun as the first game. I never got into Minecraft, so this was my first game of this type. It was a blast with a story and some combat with missions to go on. Buy it.

  15. buck84 (verified owner) –

Its a great game – This is a great game and the story will keep on getting better. The graphics are breathtaking as well as the sound. The big plus is that ever a bit of playing you get the option to build an item that will let you leave your map and view other peoples maps and you can destroy some of the items there and when you go back to your map you will have the recipe on how to build that item you destroyed.

  16. L8man (verified owner) –

Good game for kids but not minecraft, good for fans of the series but doesn’t add anything to building capabilities of Minecraft.

  17. PKHGuy (verified owner) –

Fantastic daunting game – I am new to the Builders series, and not having ever played Minecraft, I had no idea how vast these types of games are. From my impressions, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is very similar to Minecraft but has a pretty in depth story in a similar vein as other Dragon Quest games. The main gameplay is building things. You start with a very limited amount of things you can build, and then you learn more through experimentation or progressing the story. The main story is about as long as an average JRPG (40-60hrs), I found myself deviating and building houses and architecture from my imagination just for fun. Obviously, if you’re a creative person, this game can take up many days worth of your attention just building things. The only downside is that you have to get through a bit of the story in order for the game to open up and give you total freedom, and then at the halfway point you start unlocking more things to build. Long-term, this is a fantastic game, but not a sandbox game to just jump right into and start building freely right away.

Fun Sequel – This is a really fun sequel and a great game in general. Fans of the original should love it and even if you never played the original, I think you will still enjoy it a lot.

  19. Nico (verified owner) –

Dragon Quest Builders 2 – Awesome game! Super addictive Its like Minecraft but with actual goals in mind.

  20. MVDembi24 (verified owner) –

Good game – Not necessarily missing anything, just a bit tedious at times, but that goes for any build-forward game. Overall pretty good
