Still fun but a bit of a step backward – Octopath 0 is as fun as ever, with an engaging battle system that encourages you to pay attention to your team setup and their unique abilities in order to exploit the weaknesses of your enemies. It’s slightly more strategic than most turn-based JRPGs… It’s unfortunate that this is a bit of a step back in terms of the aesthetics, though. Octopath Traveler II was thoroughly impressive graphically and musically, but this game is usually not much of a looker and while the music is good, most of it is rehashes of older music. I still enjoyed this meaty game but I’m hoping Octopath Traveler III builds on the 2D HD formula rather than regressing further.

On the right path – Phenomenal game and it’s the best yet in the series!

This is a yes!! – Love this game, masterful rpg for 2025, has great replay value as well cause it’s unlikely you’ll find all joinable characters in first run

Octopath 0 a fine addition to the series – If you’re a fan of the octopath series you’ll fit right at home here. Main cast is great and town building is a unique addition to the game.

Great game – Here we have a game that takes a mobile game and adds onto it. The game also led to take previous characters from the second game of the series and use them in this game. Graphically the game is what you expect for Octopath. Also included in the really good soundtrack. If you’re a fan of the series, then this game will not let you down. In fact it will want you wanting more.

Highly recommend – If you love classic JRPG’s you simply cannot go wrong with this series. I’ve played all three and they’re all worth playing. The score is incredible and the art design is original and unique.

A welcome addition to the franchise. – Full disclosure, this game was adapted from a mobile game, and it DOES drag out a little. But, 200 hours later I stay really enjoyed the turn based battles, intriguing main story, and varied characters. Town building was a blast and you get more freedom as you progress The 2d hd aesthetic is always stunning, and this game is no exception. It’s over stayed it’s welcome, but there’s enough here to make it worth staying.

Great game packed to the gills with content – As a prequel this is a fine game, I love that it is based off a mobile game but fleshes it out and truly makes it come into its own. There’s plenty of nods to the first Octopath Traveler, even if some are considered non-canon. Still, the story is perfectly fine and the battle system is one of best in the series. Adding to that, an amazing soundtrack that always sets the mood perfectly and you have yourself a winner.

One of the best JRPG – It has a great story and is engaging specially in combat because it has strategic elements design to it.

Another great HD-2D RPG – A great addition to the Octopath Traveler series. The HD-2D visuals are beautiful, the turn-based combat is strategic and addictive, and I really enjoyed the new town-building system. Having a custom protagonist and a more focused story also makes this entry feel different from the previous games. Lots of content and a great choice for JRPG fans

Building, Classes, and Customization – The game is good overall in it’s mechanics, customization, building, and fights. The story is average but not the best when it comes to the writing, the writing is not terrible but not terrific as well. The price almost does match with what the game offers because there is a lot of content, but the content itself only gives so much like building your village for instance. You can change the building looks but only by different given presets, not changing every detail, and you are given a preset land structure you cannot change besides the environment like grass, sand, cement and etc. I think this game overall is decent, but I wish it had more freedom in its building mechanics and environment. And the customization on characters, I appreciate the variety of classes but I wish you could optimize and upgrade their stats instead of relying on leveling up or buying equipment. When it comes to skills, it is personally to me not useful in the near mid-end game because they are weak. Support skills are good but they provide only so much. If skills could be upgraded and or more skills can be added than just your 3 additonal slots given, I would have more motivation to see more classes. I think this game overall is decent. The story is average and could be written better but I understand Square Enix’s approach to the story and writing and lore. The gameplay is fairly decent and I enjoy the challenge of having to stagger an enemy; I also enjoy you can have 8 characters in a party. Building and classes, I think it can use more thought, polishing, and more freedom to feel like you are you and your land is your land.

One of the better HD-2D games out there – This game is much better then the other HD-2D games by far. Massive improvements gameplay wise among other things
