The ending made up for the differences – The gane was a little different that what i expected from the silent hill games. The dirst half was frustrating. Enemies that have a move you cant avoid. No thanks. But the story, especially at the last scene was the kind that mskes u stop and reflect in the gravity of his situation. A Very dark and torturous eternity. I reccomend if u like story based horror games.

Decent game – I hope they make more 3rd person Silent Hill games. Even though I’m not a fan or 1st person games, I loved this game.

Haunting Atmosphere, Uneven Execution – After spending roughly 39 hours with the physical PS5 edition of Silent Hill: Townfall, I can confidently say it’s a worthwhile addition to the series, even if some aspects could have been better executed.
The atmosphere is easily one of its strongest qualities. The environments are beautiful, the character designs are memorable, and the transitions into those unsettling red-tinted environments are particularly striking. The CRTV mechanic was a personal highlight. Tuning frequencies to detect enemies through walls, uncover story fragments, and find guidance makes exploration feel engaging while complementing the game’s psychological horror.
Unfortunately, the narrative pacing occasionally works against itself. Certain sequences build considerable tension only to end abruptly and begin another lengthy buildup. While I appreciate intentionally fragmented storytelling, there were moments when the narrative felt unnecessarily stagnant rather than purposefully mysterious. This made the story harder to fully appreciate during my first playthrough.
Combat is another mixed experience. The melee mechanics reminded me somewhat of Condemned: Criminal Origins. They’re functional and occasionally satisfying, but fighting multiple enemies can feel awkward. I also found the consequences of certain gameplay decisions insufficiently communicated, leaving my first ending somewhat disappointing.
On PS5, performance mode with HDR generally provided a smooth experience. However, I encountered occasional frame-rate drops during cutscenes and a few soft-locking bugs.
Despite these criticisms, Townfall has a distinct identity, compelling atmosphere, and genuinely creative mechanics. For its price, I believe it’s worth experiencing, particularly for fans of psychological horror who appreciate exploration and unconventional storytelling.
Overall: 4/5 stars. Recommended, with some reservations.

Great game – Enjoying this even more than Silent Hill 2 Remake. The stealth required and first person view add so much more tension

A Great Addition To The Series – Ive been playing Silent Hill since 1999 and I have appreciated every installment for the good and the bad. Silent Hill Townfall is a great experience. It has great atmosphere, great pacing and understands the Silent Hill formula. I wish there was the option to change the perspective just to change up replays. This is one of the better Silent Hills in the series. Looking forward to more great Silent Hill games in the future.
4.5/5

6/10 probably wouldn’t purchase again – I love silent hill games. This was the biggest slog to get through. The multiple playable characters ruined the game. Meh

Decent Price for Decent Game – I picked this up due to it releasing at a “budget” price, and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. It’s not a perfect game, and in fact there are some major issues that do effect the experience, but overall my thoughts are positive, and I’m happy I picked it up physically. I even ended up using the little DLC skin for the portable television that came with the “Day One Edition”.

Game was boring and tedious but great atmosphere. – The atmosphere was nice and spooky, and I did get jump scared a couple of times, but overall, the scare factor was pretty low. Combat and stealth felt tedious and boring. The game pushes you to sneak around enemies, which gets repetitive quickly. They made Weapons break easily, and you spend too much time hiding and waiting for a chance to move.
When you do encounter enemies, it’s usually only a few at a time, sometimes just one. I often found myself roaming the town with little action beyond the eerie environment. The story was interesting but took too long to pick up, I spent a large part of the game not knowing what was happening.
The puzzles were cool, but I only made it about 77% through before quitting out of boredom. I would have enjoyed it more with more action and less emphasis on stealth.

Engaging Story – It’s my first Silent Hill game, but the story was very engaging. There was one section that was little heavy fetch-quest, but I highly enjoyed playing. There is gore, there is violence, and jumpscares but as long as you’re okay with those things, this is the game for you!

Boring and Frustrating – Silent Hill Townfall is not a fun game to play. In my opinion, it fails as a psychological horror experience because it rarely manages to be genuinely scary. Much of the game feels like a boring walking simulator, and its approach to combat makes the experience even more frustrating.
Fighting enemies can affect which ending you receive, potentially locking you out of the good ending depending on how you play. I find this to be a bizarre design choice for a series where fighting enemies and bosses has traditionally been part of the experience.
The game has a few interesting moments, but I found the overall design poorly executed. The reported leadership issues surrounding Annapurna Interactive and the departure of its development team also raise questions about the circumstances behind the game’s development, and Konami’s choice to outsource the game to them.
Regardless, I do not think the game is worth buying, even at it’s budget game price of $49.99. Do yourself a favor and play Silent Hill f instead. It’s actually a good Silent Hill and has ties to the first game, and I found it to be a much better experience.
