Solid and stable, but too tall for typing – The riser itself is well made. It feels solid, there is no wobble at all with weight on it, and the shelf underneath gives you somewhere to slide a keyboard. I ended up returning it, and the reason is worth knowing if you are in the same situation: I use my MacBook’s built-in keyboard rather than an external one. Once the laptop sits on the riser, the keyboard goes up with it, and typing at that height got uncomfortable fast. This makes a lot of sense under an actual monitor, or with a laptop plus an external keyboard and mouse. It is just not the right thing for a laptop you type on directly. No complaint about the product itself – it does its job, it was not the job I needed done.

Makes a great laptop stand! – I purchased this with the intention of using it for a laptop stand. The holes underneath also allow much better cooling than putting it on a solid table that restricts airflow causing my laptop to run much warmer. Very sturdy and solid build. Only downside it’s not adjustable but it does what I need from it.

No assembly required; solid. – This starts out with me looking to pick up another riser/stand. I have a number of these in use, all by another manufacturer, and went to pick up yet another one at an office supply store (the only place they were available locally). What I found was that the manufacturer had changed the product. It was no longer one sturdy piece out of the box. The new version required you to assemble the tubular leg sections together with a few screws. Not the end of the world, but it wasn’t what I was after. I’m sure they made the change to flat pack them for shipping. A quick look at the BB App showed me this Insignia unit, which is one solid piece. Picked it up, it’s exactly what I wanted, and I was good to go.
