Delightfully old school JRPG with some QoL updates – If you’re looking for and old-school JRPG, but with some modern improvements, this one fits the bill. Story isn’t the highpoint, but the variety in classes and the inheritance system make this one stand out.

Quality of life features uplift old-school play – Wonderful remake of a lesser-known Square RPG. I was initially intimidated by the mechanics (death of a party member or a ‘time jump’ makes you choose a successor to that role or party), but I quickly grew to love it. Death is intentional, even beneficial, because you still retain the skills, items, and progress of your predecessors. So in essence, you continue onward, strengthening yourself and your parties with generational knowledge, abilities, and story progress.
Yes, it is worth spending the extra $10 on the eShop for the Switch 2 upgrade IMO. Smoother framerate and sharper graphics really round the game out on the system.

Classic JRPG That Is A Must Play – Excellent JRPG. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. My only disappointment with the game is that you can miss a lot of big side quests if you finish the main missions in the arcs. The game doesn’t tell you either if it’s part of the main arc or not, so I missed out on 2-3 different stories that were happening.

Didn’t hold my attention for long – I’m playing the switch 2 version of this game, but I bought the switch 1 version, so I can’t comment on switch 1 performance.
The game itself is decent, but I’ll admit it didn’t hold my attention for long. The story is generic, and I don’t like the fact that the main gimmick of this game is pretty much perma death and that the characters you start off with is not the characters you end with. Kinda makes me detached to the characters
Also, the motion blur is horrible.

I like these fantasy games because people are nice, and kind. Real life is filled with nasty, cruel woman that try to do “emotional damage”. Lol ugh. Nice vacation from real life.

Great JRPG – If you like JRPGs you’ll like this game, fun and has a unique emperor system. You have enemies that spend multiple generations and you pick your own emperor with their own abilities and skills that most get passed down from previous emperors. Tip – try to keep Gerald as your emperor as long as possible.
