SwissGear Commander – Purchased this on sale. Super good laptop bag. This laptop features an enhanced laptop compartment with zippered access for a 17-inch laptop and a padded tablet pocket. Super good organization with a main computer compartment and an accordion file holder and a RFID-protected organizer compartment with a removable key/fob clip and multiple divider pockets. The pack is well constructed with multiple Pockets.

Major Design Flaw – Most things about this backpack are good, but the main pocket has a major design flaw. If the weight shifts while your walking, the zipper will open completely and all the contents will spill out. If it’s a few water bottles at a concert (happened to me), no big deal. If it’s your laptop, or even your iPad (happened to me. It broke.) it’s a big problem. You can buy zipper latches but if you forget to latch them it’s a problem.

Spacious and comfortable – The backpack has plenty of storage, I’m able to store some tools, clothes and other heavy and lighter items as well. So far the backpack seems extremely durable from the material to the way it feels, it also has a variety of pockets to store your items.

Good backpack for airline travel – When the overhead bins are full, your rolling bag SHALL be taken into the hold with the other checked bags. But your backpack, with your computer and other essentials, will be safely within reach, wedged into the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. That is my purpose in carrying this bag. As a backpack, it carries well, easily packs a 16 inch computer, and has plenty of pockets some of which are quite thoughtful. Examples: a stiffened pocket for sunglasses, a side entry pocket for athletic shoes or a light jacket, interior dividers for small items, an insulated pocket (for hot or cold), good quality zippers, a built-in charging cable (battery pack not included). It carries well, with padded shoulder pads connected by a flexible chest strap, and an easy-carry handle. The absence of a waist belt could be a quibble but as a tradeoff you lose the dangling belt connectors so on balance it works out. It also looks more expensive than it is, has plenty of well-thought-out pockets, has rugged construction, and high-quality, no-snag zippers. It certainly has a large enough capacity but is easily flattened down with its handy side straps. IMO you would not want anything larger as a carry-on.
I have used the pack on multiple flights as a carry on and never had a problem. At least twice having the pack allowed my computer and other valuables to accompany me to my seat rather than be diverted into checked baggage. If you are down with using a backpack, you would surely be happy with this one.
