Died on me 2 days ago. – Unfortunately, this hard drive died on me two days ago. Ironically, it died the day I was going to back up my computer data. It was not the enclosure housing nor the cable, but the drive itself. Because the drive had sensitive customer data on it, I did not want to let the drive out of my site. I was able to successfully destroy the drive, and I will not be buying the Easy Store model going forward.

The 8TB Game Changer Every Content Creator Needs! – I couldn’t be happier with my WD Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. As a content creator and vlogger, storage space is absolutely essential, and this hard drive has exceeded all of my expectations.
The massive 8TB capacity gives me plenty of room to store thousands of videos, photos, graphics, and project files without constantly worrying about running out of space. Having all of my content safely organized in one place gives me tremendous peace of mind.
What I appreciate most is how easy it is to use. Setup was simple, the drive was recognized immediately, and transferring large video files is smooth and reliable. It has become an important part of my daily workflow. Whether I’m backing up completed projects or storing footage for future content, it performs flawlessly.
The drive operates quietly, feels durable, and has consistently delivered dependable performance. For anyone who creates videos, streams, edits content, or simply needs a reliable backup solution, this is an outstanding investment.
WD has created a product that combines huge storage capacity, reliability, and ease of use into one package. This hard drive has helped me stay organized, protect my work, and focus on creating content instead of worrying about storage limitations.
I highly recommend the WD Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. It has been one of the best technology purchases I’ve made, and it easily earns a well deserved 5 star rating.

Quiet and reliable external hard disk – I bought this version of Western Digital external drive to use as a Linux network attached storage (NAS) device using an Intel NUC (those tiny computer boxes) running Debian, so I didn’t buy this for the software that comes bundled with the drive.
This drive does not have a power button like other Western Digital external drives sold elsewhere which is exactly what you want for a system that should power back up after a power outage.
Before putting the unit into use, I used the WD Windows utilities to configure the drive to go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity (it turns out that’s the default). There are people who will tell you that hard drives don’t last as long if they are always powering up and down. I have been doing the 30 minutes to sleep thing for years on my NAS drives simply last forever and use a lot less power when nobody is accessing them. If you want the drive to never turn off or sleep after a longer period of inactivity, you can change the setting before you put the drive into use.
The unit is remarkably quiet and having used WD drives for years, I don’t think I have ever had one fail. They are also great for off site backups.

This one is even better than the MyBook – I love everything about it. It’s sleek, black, reliable, and chock full of storage capabilities. Just like me and my aged brain. 10/10. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to preserve space inside their favorite technological hardware device in the most efficient way possible.

Good Huge Storage device for BU/NAS – Huge storage for multiple devices if connected in comprehensive Network layout. I use as secondary Storage for my NAS of similar size. While the interface works in universal environment, getting similar one in USB-C 400 or 800 would work best in Apple setup.
